The Greek island of Crete has a reputation as one of the world’s best places to get away from the mainland.
It’s also known for being one of Greece’s biggest tourist attractions, with a network of four national museums, a museum of the Greek alphabet, a Greek amphitheatre, a major Greek theatre, a replica of the ancient temple of Poseidon, and even a Greek theatre.
But there’s a catch: you can’t book your holidays on the Greek island for the next two months.
Greek tourism company CGT says that because of the financial crisis, people are turning to Greece as a holiday destination.
